Jim & Cathie
Believe it or not, our camping started because we had a dog we couldn’t leave behind. Jim had a friend at work that always spoke of his camping adventures and was about to sell his 1987 Coleman Pop Up and he found a buyer, the Crisafulli’s. Shortly after that, my son entered the picture and we found ourselves wanting a few more necessities and discovered a great 16 ft. Citation travel trailer. With all of us now growing and wanting even more room, in 1988 we purchased a brand new 22 ft. Sunline travel trailer and found ourselves using it almost every weekend. In 1990, we moved to Pennsylvania, sold this trailer and were absent from camping for a bit until, oh about, 2003.
With our son interested in other things, we hit the road again in 2004 with a 1994 Winnebago Motor home on a Toyota chassis and enjoyed many years of fun and meeting so many people we could write a book.
Through all of the above, I can’t tell you how many times Jim said “when I retire I’m getting a truck camper” and my thoughts were always “I don’t think so.” Then one day while passing a used car lot, a 2004 Ford F250 caught Jim’s eye he went to look at it four times before purchasing it. Once the F250 became part of the family he just had to have a 2006 Lance Camper 845 to go with it.
I’m a strong believer if you want something get it now, and that’s the best part, seeing Jim enjoy his truck and truck camper before retirement. Still feeling we’re the only couple to go smaller, I was willing to give it a try. I couldn’t be happier – it’s the best purchase we ever made. We’ve travelled extensively throughout New England and to Florida 3 times.
What’s in Jim’s very near future? A diesel truck, but unsure which brand to purchase. What’s in my future? Someday a TC with a bit different layout. What’s in our future? More rallies, weekend get-aways, summer vacation, and Wagon Masters for the Fall 2009 Rally in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. We have some tough acts to follow. We attend as many rallies as possible and through this site and RV.Net I couldn’t begin to count the stories and information shared and the fun and interesting people we’ve met to date. I’m sure we’ll be meeting many more.
You’ve made all the past rallies a success, please continue your streak and help us make ours a success too! Remember, you’ve got a friend in Pennsylvania.
